The following is a copy of the text used in notecards throughout Second Life, for your info:

Thanks for taking this notecard about the KLR in-world radio station. We wanted to explain to you what KLR Radio is and how it came about.

What it is: It’s a 24 hour a day music radio station operated by AnthonyLovett , also known as DJ Tony. The station is sponsored by the Redangel Clothing Company.

Who it’s for: The stream is produced in Second Life, exclusively for Second life members. It is available on Karuvium and on various privately owned parcels, and at the Redangel Clothing Company shopping mall. It is broadcast live 24/7. The stream has an automatic backup in times of emergency, technical failure and Windows Updates, so you will never lose audio from KLR under normal circumstances.

What it plays: KLR carries a broad mix of music. It occasionally has music features and competitions.

Why it came about:
Anthony says: “I have been around the adult sims in SL for 8 years and have seen the decline of people going to clubs to hear music for numerous reasons. Not only have the attendances at many clubs and venues been hit, big name venues like Fire Island and others have gone. I also noticed that most SL derived local radio streams (on parcel owners land) are very narrow in their choice of music, or simply a re-broadcast of real-world radio stations, thus offering no specific content appropriate to Second Life. Finally, I noticed that SL Radio has gone from Second Life, and so I saw an opportunity to fill that void, if only partially for now.”

About its owner: Anthony Lovett (in Second Life – anthonylovett resident) owns it. In his real life, Anthony has been involved working at local radio stations, voluntary community radio stations and a hospital radio station, over a period of 23 years. His first professional radio station was in March 1980. He was a professional radio presenter who enjoyed production roles in addition, in the UK working freelance for both the BBC and commercial local radio between 1980 and 2003.

In 2013, he set up a radio station in Second Life called Romanum Radio. In 2015 due to circumstances beyond his control, he was out of Second Life for five and a half years. Late in 2021 he returned to Second Life and created KLR. In effect continuing from where he left off with Romanum Radio.

Anthony is now semi retired, and is producing a radio station that is unique to SL, born in SL and available to anyone in SL, from sim owners and shopping mall owners to residents of Second Life who wish to program it into their in-world radio receivers or land settings, or listen on the hoof in-world.
He said: “As I age, the joy of broadcasting has never left me, and it is KLR that provides me with Mindfulness and stability in my advancing years.”
